I've been in the Music industry over 35 years! My first Love was playing Keyboards in the San Francisco Bay Area in the 80s. later toured the US, then Japan. I took my Music experience to the Studio and Started Gateway Recording Studio in the SF area. Since 1998 I've devoted Myself to Audio Mastering. In 2010 I was Promoted to the position of the V.P. of Serengeti Records in Indianapolis, Ind. and previously the Chief engineer at Nu Vibe Records Bakersfield Ca. and one of the Mastering Engineers at CEE/ NBC Radio. WEEK TWO
- On Our 2nd Week we were able to have hands On Basic Signal Flow consisting of Proper Power connections, Mic Placement, Cable connections, Monitor and Speaker Hookups, and Safely turning On Components in their correct order...We also Made Basic Mixer set ups to gain understanding of the Flow...
Gain Staging Settings and PA Set Up
We first connected All the cables from the Mixer ( L and R Main Out ) to the Powered Speakers ( In In Flat setting ) and the Microphone ( Dynamic ) to the Mixer Channel with ( XLR input and Main )...Then Adjusted the Input gain to 12 O'clock and the Main Slider to Unity gain and finally adjusted the Channel to its proper Level to avoid Clipping or distortion or feedback... Gain Staging is about adjusting volume levels in order to create a clear signal chain minimize noise, and maximize headroom across the course of a mix.
